ARTIST
SIGNED, COMMISSIONED,
ORIENTAL, OCCUPIED JAPAN,
1940S-70S UNSIGNED SCARVES,
MISC.
Over
the years I have come across and collected many scarves which are artist signed,
they are amongst my favorites. I have also come cross some very stunning
scarves which unfortunately do not bear the signature of the artist which is
very sad especially if one thinks of the time an effort put into a design yet
the artists receives no credit for efforts, these scarves are now very difficult
to find. The scarves
featured here are just a few from my own collection of 'art scarves'. It
is worth noting that most commissioned scarves are not available through retail
shopping outlets and are made in limited quantities which in time makes them
quite rare. It only goes to show how varied and interesting scarf collecting can
be and how a collector can miss out on some stunning scarves merely because they
are unsigned.

art work involved.

collectable with those who collect artwork itself. £40 +

Dress Christmas
The five scarves featured above are all vintage - from the
late 1940s onwards scarves were produced featuring period costume, ballet,
romantic scenes to name but a few subjects. Crinoline ladies was a firm
favourite in the 1950s as were Persian legends, similar graphics also appeared on powder compacts of
that era. You may also come across scarves bearing a label which states
'occupied Japan' - anything with such a label is dated between 1945-52 and
relates to the post WW2 war period.
