WOMEN, FASHION, ADVERTISING, FOOD

Over the years many manufacturers, organizations etc., have produced 'one off' scarves to promote a particular product or subject or event, quite often these scarves are not available through retail outlets and are produced in very limited numbers, as time goes by many are discarded thus making  them difficult to find therefore their rarity increases, apart from that many are cross collectables, examples being food, drink, brewery, magazines, perfumes, cosmetics, the list is endless.

This scarf is at true reminder of those brave women some of whom suffered death,  injury and imprisonment  in their quest for better rights for women and to whom we owe  our freedom to vote. The scarf was made from one of the last pieces of silk produced in Macclesfield.  The scarf measures approx. 72 x 12 inches. Two sections of the scarf are shown in order to obtain a better close-up. Macclesfield boasts a wonderful Heritage Centre devoted to the silk industry. A few minutes walk from the Heritage Centre is the Paradise Mill which houses restored working examples of silk Jacquard looms. Macclesfield is well worth a visit for those who are interested not only in scarves but the silk industry in general.
