Many of the 'perfume' scarves
that you come across will more than likely have been released as a 'freebie -
giveaway' to celebrate
either the launch a new perfume or possibly as a special Christmas
promotion or something of that nature, in some instances they were worn by the
sales staff selling or promoting the perfume, whatever the case it is one of those 'get
it while you can'
situations as the offer is usually very limited resulting in a first come
first served situation to those purchasing a perfume, these offers
are very rarely repeated so make sure that you don't miss out should you
come across one of these scarves as they are also of great interest to perfume
bottle collectors. From time to time some 'perfume' scarves were released to
employees only at company seminars and conventions etc., thus making them
rarer still.
KARL LAGERFELD - 1980 K L Perfume
scarf - This lovely silk scarf was given to staff at company
seminars and was not available in retail shops, another cross collectable with
those who collect perfume related memorabilia.
ROCHAS
Marcel 1902-55- This scarf celebrates the Rochas perfume BYZANTINE
which was released in 1995, more than likely a free gift at point of sale. Non
silk.
CACHAREL
- Anais Anais Perfume - released 1978 - Cacharel
has released some really lovely scarves over the years to celebrate a release of
different perfumes - this small French cotton scarf has lovely graphics
similar to the Anais Anais bottle itself and is signed Cacharel on one corner.
PALOMA
PICASSO - A very extrovert scarf with great graphics as one would
expect from the house of Picasso. This scarf is non silk although I have seen similar
scarves passed of and sold as silk on internet sites. In the late 1990s
Picasso also released other silk scarves as apart of a promotional offer
when purchasing a perfume, they came in different colourways and featured
different designs by the famous man himself.
CACHAREL
- PARIS. Anais Anais perfume - This scarf is a longer version commemorating this
famous perfume, non silk, made from a very soft 'floaty' poly fabric. Signed
Cacharel one on corner.
GUERLAIN-
Paris - Beautiful silk chiffon scarf from the famous French perfume house,
rolled edge. This particular scarf was a promotional scarf for the perfume
CHAMPS ELYSES and came with cerise pink packaging. Another cross collectable
with those who collect perfume related items.
CHRISTIAN
DIOR - Dramatic chiffon scarf celebrating the perfume POISON, great graphics
showing POISON perfume bottle. This scarf does not turn up very often and
would be of interest to perfume collectors as well as scarf collectors.
LANCOME
- Pretty silk Apricot coloured scarf from the perfume house of Lancome, does not
state which perfume. Lovely graphics.
MAX
FACTOR - LE JARDIN - d AMOUR - Dramatic black chiffon scarf celebrating the
perfume Le Jardin, more than likely a free gift given with the perfume at point
of sale.
ELIZABETH ARDEN - RED DOOR PERFUME - Super
scarf signed EA promoting the famous perfume RED DOOR, the design is made up of
a chain with charms hanging from it representing lipsticks, perfume and a key
with the EA initials hanging from it. Non silk
FRAGONARD
PERFUMERIE - SOUTH OF FRANCE - Lovely silk scarf from this very famous French
establishment - well worth a visit if ever you ever visit the stunning Cote
d'Azure - one of my favorite calls when in this part of the world.
CACHAREL
- soft chiffon scarf from the famous perfume house celebrating the lovely
perfume EDEN - yet
another case of 'get it while you can' as these scarves are nor repeated.
ELIZABETH
ARDEN - SUNFLOWERS - This bright and cheerful promotional scarf commemorating
the perfume Sunflowers certainly lives up to its name - summery is the keyword,
great colours and graphics.
